I have an agency that is looking at the Hawksoft agency management system. Does anybody have any knowledge or experience with this system? This agency like many, does not fully utilize the Tam system, including accounting. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There are times when I wish I could visit those kinds of agencies and point out what they are missing by not using TAM the way it can be used, especially the accounting part.  No, it's not perfect, but you can track SO MUCH and it's not that difficult to learn.  Just having someone explain the reporting capabilities, the how-to and then setting up some user-defined reports and a schedule of when to run them would probably open a lot of eyes to what's there that is not being used and is worth the money spent.  I've said before that TAM (for our agency, at least) is a pretty cheap 24/7 employee.

I have heard about it many times from others on our Big I automation committee, but I have yet to see it and I don't know of any agency using it.

I took a look at it a few years ago for my State Agents Association committee.    Actually, I was pretty surprised at how complete it looks for the price.   Certainly not nearly as full functioned as TAM, but maybe better than Doris.   Accounting is done on Quickbooks, but it is better than nothing and will do what is necessary.   Lets face it, many small agencies are very squeezed today and Applied support is not cheap.

My posts are a natural hand made product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to be considered flaws or defects.

If I was going to recommend a complete management system cheap for small agents, it would be InStar.  Based on having used it.  In many ways still far ahead of TAM.  Factual!   Debate anyone and welcome it!   I loved it and would still be using!  Just don't like AMS/Vertafore Leadership.

Just have to be frank and honest.  TAM is nothing to brag about and falls very short to InStar in abilities don't let anyone kid you otherwise.  I loved the product.  I refuse to have incompetent support and leadership over there.  As an example, Vertafore had turn over again at the top.   We're on TAM because of the product being acquired and not wanting that leadership.  Had it not, I'd be using it today and wouldn't have any regrets.  NONE!  That good and complete.  From 3 yrs of use dating back to 2006, can only be even better today but darn shame who supports it.

There's a pretty good thread on insurance journal forums on this topic, it's been going on for a couple years. . .

The only problem with a poll.  We all say our system is best without using the others.  When you buy something nobody wants  to go public and say I was wrong, made bad investment so people using x system will vote that system.   My guess there were 17 TAM users voting 23 AMS360 etc.

Good link though to get some pricing.   Helpful to all!  :)
