One user here has had this twice in a row. They click on Homebase icon to open up TAM and get the error. I can fix it with ASUPDATE /rr but is there a permanent fix? Anybody seen this before?

Me and TAM used to have a thing but we've split amicably. She got the kids, I got the Camaro and the maid.

Perhaps a good cleaning of temp files and a reboot might help.  Anything in the Windows - System error logs?

Or, have you tried deleting (or just renaming just in case) the users C:\wintam folder and then running asupdate /rr?

Also check environment variables (just "path") and make sure there are not too many and.or that it matches another stations exactly.

I am naming 'path' as one of the most helpful hints for 2012.

The knowledgebase says that itunes or adaware can cause this issue

Thanks for the suggestions. Paths seem fine, no itunes, machine gets rebooted regularly and seems clean. Will see what happens tomorrow.

Andrew - the suggestion regarding cleaning up temp files is one that has helped me in the past.

The other was I had someone somehow get the link from their icon to the wrong drive.

Andrew Carrick

Ran disk clean-up and deleted .tmp files and also recreated desktop link and she's now purring like a kitten - that could be the PC fan of course - so thanks Lance and all those who offered tips.
