Cert and revision# are for our use, should we wish to use them.  I could see using cert # if you have an insd that needs multiple certs each showing unique coverages.  MAYBE cert# is easier than saying "This is the GL and Ohio WC cert, this is your GL and Michigan WC cert, ....."

Thanks, John.

I upgraded to 10.4 over the weekend.  I have a couple of questions about the actual form:

1.  "Insurer letter" - assuming this means the company assigned letter - but what is it to reference? (addl insured or Subro waived?)

2.  Cert # - ?

3.  Revision # - ?

4. Are Phone, Fax, Email fields active?

Anyone crafted a "notice to clients" about the change to address the angry clients that want the OLD cert (to get paid or for audit)?

Thanks.

I talked to Applied Support about the 'insurer letter' as it never shows up when printed. Research finds that it is an obsolete field that should have been removed. Thus simply ignore it.

Cert # and Revision # was added to help track if changes have been made to a previously issued cert and to help match up documents if you attach additional pages.

As for a notification/explanation, I amend the IIABA document I posted a link for to include some language from the Indiana DOI bulletin issued last year and to delete some info that doesn't apply. We'll be sending it out if needed.

Thanks, Jim for info.  I "chatted" with Applied and the person must have been reading from the Acord documentation regarding the changes.

1.  This was the "Insurer Letter" field explanation:

The Insured Letter on the Holder Tab allows data to be entered but that data does not print. It will also default data if holders are defaulted from a prior certificate.

To which I replied....it has no purpose!

2.  Cert # & Revision # - she had no clue...and simply said that what I said (for our own interpretation and use) was probably right....

OK...got enough ammo now to explain to the troops about the "new" fields....

The 'Insurer letter' was never an Acord field, I don't believe. When Acord updated the form to incude the column to indicate the additional insured and the waiver of subrogration, this item became obsolete but didn't get removed from the GUI. The teach was probably reading documentation resulting from my call, because that's almost exactly what we decided about it.
