I really need something to kick today... or someone!  Building management houses on the second floor, over the weekend their kitchen decided to leak water down into our office right onto our phone system... Master PBX and voicemail systems are quite toasted.  Happy Monday!  With the help of the phone guy was able to turn the slave PBX into the master and get the phones back up and limping until he can get here.   PBX is almost 20 years old... Guess christmas is coming early and I get a shiny new phone system?!  ??? >:(

Sounds like a GL claim to me so the management company buys the new PBX system.

No one wants to file a claim.  So I guess they're paying for the cost of the repair to the old system, and we're paying the difference for the new system.  At least that's what I was told last.

we're their clients, they're our clients... everybody is tip-toeing to keep everyone else happy...

Sounds reasonable to retain a mutually beneficial relationship.

Well new Panasonic system is in and tweaking is in progress.  But so far all is well.  My fav feature so far that is new for us is the voicemail to email feature!  All voicemail's come into the systema nd get emailed to us!  I know this is old school by now, but it's new to us and I'm happy!

Folks here have gotten so used to that feature that we occasionally have to purge the voice-mail boxes in the phone system - they never use the phone to listen to them so they just build up.

That would be exciting. My system is so old it doesn't even have voicemail (not that it's a bad thing). Some customers actually appreciate not being dumped to VM.

We make a point of offering the option to the caller - to take a message or "dump" them to VM.

We act like we're taking a message, but in reality the receptionist is using the "record - transfer" feature to record the message directly into the person's voice mail.  A nice feature.
