I've not done this before, and the "Help" file for this is woefully deficient.

I want to set up the file to pull cert holder and description info (at least) from our files to send to the insureds where we have large numbers of holders.  Appreciate info on where to start?  I think setting up the Excel file for export is a step, but not sure how to start with that.

Hi Lance,

Are you on TAM now?  If so, here's the instructions:

Make a blank excel file on your desktop and name it whatever you'd like (client name, etc).
-Open Clients Cert File
-Holder Tab
-Options, Export Cert
-Under Path or Filename to export- Find your blank excel doc you saved and select it.
-Hit open
-Click Export- Yes to Filename already exists.
-Click Export again and then open your excel file.

All the holders should be there with the Descriptions of Operations- Column AI (in excel) is the Desc of Operations Column.

Hope this helps!

It's asking for a "Data Definition" when I click Export.  What do I do there?

Adri

Well we do have something there and it's highlighted but to be honest its for an import of holders to TAM, not export.  Do you have to have something or can you just click export and continue?

Lance,

You have to setup the data definition, even though you're exporting. The data definition is used for importing; however, the export utility uses what you defined in the defintion. I've attached a print out fraom A$ that I've used in the past.

Yes, that's the "help file" I referred to as somewhat lacking.  I guess what I need now is how to set up the data definition the first time.

Those are the instructions I used. What are you having trouble with?

Actually got them on the "other side" - I kept thinking I had to do data definitions in that Excel sheet I create - finally sank in, just create a blank one.

Doh!

Still having problem.  When I get to the "Export Holders" dialog, the box to hold "Available Data Definitions" is blank.  That's my problem - how do I create that initial Data Def spreadsheet?

There is a Webinar on the AS website  - Free Webinars - http://www.appliedsystems.com/support/news/archives/mar20webinar.htm.  Kat Polizzi presented it.  I think it gives a better idea of the process than just reading it.  Maybe this will help make it a little clearer.  We don't use it - so other than doing it initially when it was first introduced - I haven't done it recent enough to remember the details.

You don't create an initial data def spreadsheet. The spreadsheet you setup will get over written when you export the holders. It's just a temporary repository. You do, however, need to setup a data definition as if your importing. Go to Utility Manager, Forms, Setup, Certificate, Import/Export Holder Setup. Mine looks like the attached. You are essentially mapping fields to where they should go if you were import the holder list.

With help of the CSR to find the right cert that had all the holders, it all worked.  Mahalo Nui Loa!
