This is on a new XP Pro workstation - TAM Host failed to load and a 16-bit sub-system error pops up complaining about a file in the users temp folder location %USERPROFILE%\...\temp

User is given option to ignore or close - either choice hangs homebase.exe for a good long while...

Have you tried deleting the C:\wintam folder and rerunning asupdate /rr?

Possible unconfigured or missing Autoexec.NT and/or Config.NT files?

Now that Jeff mentions it, I remember seeing this when the last line in the config.nt is missing - according to what Applied says it needs to be - or if anything in the config.nt is mis-typed.

SHELL=%SYSTEMROOT%\SYSTEM32\COMMAND.COM /E:2048

But I'm sure there could be other reasons too.

...and the fix was...

add the user to the local Power Users group - due to TAM's never-ending quest to make all your users full admins!
