New Certificates of Insurance Webinar Planned for Oct. 27

Space is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

No other industry topic comes close to certificates of insurance in creating questions for the Big "I" Virtual University. The continuing interest and confusion on certificates, combined with the fact that ACORD's licensing agreement will compel agents to discontinue use of pre-September 2009 editions of the ACORD 24/25 by the end of September 2010, means it's time for another countrywide webinar. And from an E&O risk management standpoint, the more you know about certificates the better prepared you'll be to avoid situations that increase your exposure to E&O claims.

The webinar, planned for Oct. 27, 2010 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. ET, will focus on the most critical issues involving certificates, as well as provide "pushback" developments. The tuition is $79 and the webinar can be presented conference style for the entire office to participate.  If you get resistance from certificate holders, please share your experiences--good and bad--by e-mailing Bill Wilson (bill.wilson@iiaba.net). This webinar will allow plenty of time for Q&A that can be submitted before and during the session. Begin sending questions right now and, and when you sign up for the webinar, you will have the opportunity to submit additional questions.

This webinar will involve a roundtable discussion by some of the top certificate experts in the country and will be presented in a lively, informal format. We promise a lot of substance with a little bit of entertainment thrown in.

I saw this info this morning also and thought about the comments made here about some states Ins Depts somewhat ignoring/being silent on the Acord requirement of discontinuing use of "expired" cert forms.   What does Acord do about those states?

Probably nothing, what enforcement power do they have? There is no forms police dept. to arrest you for using the wrong edition date. This policy actually applies to all of their forms and how long have we been using other much older forms in Applied? The only enforcement they have is to work with software vendors to get them to update, which doesn't take care of those still using paper that have a big supply or those using forms disks that don't buy newer ones. The individual Ds OI have the enforcement power and if they don't care, well who's there to do anything?

We were alerted by CSR24 that the ACORD 25 was updated yet again, new date (2010/05).
Who's side is ACORD on anyway?
