What needs to be enable to open TIF files from inside IE8?  It works fine on my workstation, but I cannot get it working on another person's.  I have QuickTime and MS PowerPoint Viewer 2007 installed on it also which will open those things if first saved to the drive.  Paint also opens them.  But none of these do it without first saving the file on this particular PC.  Windows XPsp3.

Thanks.

Have you checked the file associations on the other computer?  Possible there is none for tiff set up?

Alice

IrfanView opens TIFF's but I don't have IE8 to test.

File associations are in existance.  Outside of IE, all is well.  Inside IE, not so.

I have checked the associations also.

I figure this is a user rights, IE access etc issue, but am unable to figure it out so far.

Just guessing, but I'd guess it has something to do with IE security and the internet/intranet security "zones".  Try turning off the firewall on that machine, just to rule out any outside influence, then start experimenting with security settings in IE.  Sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer.   Also, be looking for subtle clues like pop up blockers and also little icons in the corners or IE.  I remember the issue, I just don't remember if I did a work around or was able to fix it in IE 8.  I also remember something about protected mode too in IE 8 too, but my feeble old mind just can't remember anymore.  Sorry, but all I'm able to provide is a merry chase down a rabbit hole!
