Title: New Certificate of Insurance: Any push back?
Post by: insurebaltimore on August 31, 2010, 02:47:22 PM
We just upgraded to 10.4 last night.  Has anyone received an unhealthy amount of push back from certain companies?  If so, which company and what was the resolution?

I'm just trying to prepare the staff here.  Thanks in advance.

We've been using the new certificate since January. The issues have been few. To any one who questioned the new form, we sent out document from our insurance commissioner about using the new form. No insurance carrier had any objection.

We had a couple of peeps, but they took the form upon explanation. Didn't even have to send them a big explanation either. We don't have to deal with any of the big residential or commercial contractors right now, which usually have some of the strictist requirements (not a lot of that work getting done right now), but the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and City of Indianapolis takes the new one fine, and they have pretty tight loss control requests.

The IIABA has a document that you can customize and use for Certificateholders if you have issues. It explains why it was changed and the legal issues surrounding it, including information about State DOI requirements (if they apply in your state). Check the VU section of the IIABA website for it.
