Title: Summary of Insurance / MS Word
Post by: Jim Jensen on August 03, 2010, 11:36:59 AM
We've never really used the Summaries of Insurance, but I'm revisiting this area. Isn't there a way to pull them into Word? It seems like I remember seeing it or hearing about it before, but I can't figure out how.

I think i found it, but it's not working for me. 'Output to File' appears to mean "output to MS Word". I was thinking that would be just a text file out or PDF type of thing. So much for explicit descriptions.

Now I get an error "error creating temporary file" when trying to do so. I created a letter just fine a short bit ago.

KB document about it:

Solution: There may be an invalid character, e.g., a backslash  (e.g. 1,000,000\), in the coverage code of one of the coverages.

The problem is corrected in V7.0.0.

Ha! Either it's not or something else is awry since I'm on 10.4.

If it is the same error we started getting after moving to TAM 10.4, then Applied gave us a registry fix to correct this problem.  Apparently a windows update causes this problem.

I can post here if you want, but it would be use at your own risk!

Thanks George, waiting on a real-time tech right now. If they don't take care of it in short order, I'll have you send me the change.

Per AS Support, it's MS update KB973904. Recommendation was to remove that update. Still working out to see if it fixes.

Yes, that was the windows update, couldn't remember, however, it wanted me to remove a ton of other updates when removing that one which is why Applied gave me the registry fix instead.

Removing that particular update did not eliminate the problem. Send me the registry change, please jim at jensen insurance dot com.   (no spaces).

Didn't get it - email sent directly (hurrah for the NNTP newsgroup where I could quickly find George's email in a message there).

I know, I complained in the Community about it passing emails, which I didn't feel was appropriate, but that was a complain about consistency moreso than privacy.

Registry change received and worked to fix the issue. Quicker than support here.
