We have a pop email account for our work. I have had it set up on my iphone as an IMAP account. As long as my outlook on my computer wasn't open, my new email would go to my phone. Once I hit send and recieve in my desktop outlook, the next time the phone did a send and receive, the messages would come off of the phone. Today i had to reset the work account on my phone and I can't seem to get it back to the way I want it. It's not working. I called the email provider and they said I couldn't use IMAP, i had to set it up as pop on the phone, which I did, but then the messages are not deleting when they have hit my desktop inbox. Does this make sense? Can anyone help me get it so the messages are deleted from the phone, once they are received in the inbox?
I just think this makes the most practical sense, since the data shouldn't have to be deleted from more than one location and I don't want it remaining on the phones....

Why can't you use imap? Most if not all providers use that today.
Ok, I'll pursue this with them. To add a question, am I silly to worry about the data still residing on the phone? Or would it be wise to make as little on there as possible?

At minimum, you should have a passcode or similar to unlock your phone.

Related to this, I'm just delving into a smart phone for myself (yea, I know. Don't say it). My wife's agency uses the Good app for security on her phone. Can anyone recommend that, or recommend one that is better? If I get a Droid, do I need to add anti-virus anti-malware too?
