Title: new virtualized server - lost password
Post by: Lynne Desrochers on April 11, 2012, 03:36:30 PM
Let's pretend that someone recently got a new server installed that utilizes VMware w/a vSphere client and they updated the administrator username and password and now they can't find it. Is there any way to get it reset? Thank you in advance for helping the helpless.

Ding! I just pretended to fix it.

On a more serious note...is this VM host in production already? If not, can you just re-install Vmware on it?

Or try this: http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=1317898

Definitely a good situation to have notes on...even if it didn't actually happen (right?)?

Here's the thing. I was careful to take f*&^*& notes on them, i just cannot find them. There, I said it. I've been going in ten different directions for a while now and I knew something would drop and this is it.  :(

Thanks for the link, i'll check it out.

I meant to say its one of those "what ifs" that most people wouldnt' think about until it actually happens.

So, after I figured I would just use my tax refund to pay to have it set up again, i remembered it. Recording it right now.
Thank you for your help Jeff.
