Title: Defective WordViewer in TAM
Post by: Andrew Carrick on December 30, 2010, 09:29:23 AM
One of our users has lost her toolbar in WordViewer 2003 and I can't see how you can get it back. No idea how she "lost" it in the first place, but hey, that's what we're here for.

Simple reinstall of the application?

Might it be in full screen mode?

It is missing the File, Edit, View, etc toolbar?

If it's something controlled by a registry entry, a reinstall might not do it.

Yes it's missing those menu buttons. I thought a simple right-click might give a toolbar option but it doesn't. I've logged with Support.

Is there a toolbar at all, or if you open Word viewer through the start button, does it just open a blank screen?

No toolbar, and yes when I open it via Programs, it is blank but immediately opens a dialog box to search for a file. It does the same on my PC but I have the toolbar.

Sounds like it is in full screen mode. If you move the mouse to the top of the window doesn't the menu bar appear?  Or try Alt + V + U to see if that doesn't return to normal view.

Tested and Alt + V + U worked for me.

Edit: F11 would have been a better choice, MS.  Keep it consistent!! LOL

Thanks George. Turns out it wasn't in full screen mode but toolbar had got detached and was on user's second monitor (app was on first). The keyboard shortcut just enabled me to reveal it's position.

Result. Support yet to come back to me....

That was kind of going to be my next suggestion, less the dual monitor part.

George to the rescue!  ;D
