Title: National General Coverage Codes PDF
Post by: Alice Mooney on September 01, 2018, 04:54:12 PM
Does anyone write NatGen and have access to their site?  The link to their Coverage Code PDF is broken and they are unable to access it and email to me.

Yes, as rediculous as that sounds. The "tech" support person I spoke to ask their web department and they said it's working for them, so it's our problem not theirs. When I asked the girl I was talking to if she can get one of the guys that can access it to email it to her and she can forward to me, she said that she cannot because that's not how they do things, and I need to fix our problem to get it.

The problem is not ours. I've tried on my work computer and used three different browsers on my home computer and get the same 404 link doesn't work message.
We are currently rolling that book to Safeco and I can't wait for it to be finished. I need the coverage codes because Safeco is unable to figure them out to correctly quote the policies.

Vertafore has a process to import the codes in to AMS and it produces a text file of the codes that imported and the codes that failed. Using that text file, I was unable to find the codes Safeco sent me that they need the definition of. The import file is dated 07/2018- pretty current. But I would rather have the one from their web site.

The site may or may not be httpS, a secure site, and may or may not require the WWW.  Some sites do not require the WWW and will not respond if you type it in.  Post the link and maybe someone here will have an idea.

It's not the site itself. I can log in okay and can navigate to the area where the links to the PDF's are located. The links they provide to get the PDF NAIC codes and the coverage codes return the 404 message.

Alice, chances are they changed the site and you're dealing with a cached site. Go to the site where the links are, and do a CTRL-F5 to hard-refresh that page, then try the link again.

Or open the site in incognito mode.

Jeff - just tried that and still have same issue. I did delete all temp files and everything else before I posted here.

Mark - I don't know what that means.

What's the web site? Microsoft Azure is having big time issues right now, as well as Level3, so I'd say between either one of them you're probably running into an outage.

Outage?  Got any more info on that?

Azure Outage: https://myitforum.com/outage-azure-resource-manager-and-south-central-is-down-due-to-overheating/

Office365 (which runs on Azure) follows suit - lots of areas affected despite promising to be "globally redundant": https://www.reddit.com/r/sysadmin/comments/9cuwhs/loginmicrosoftcom_down_for_everyone_or_just_me/

Likewise, and perhaps either the root or part of the problem, Level3 was also having issues, oddly enough with the same root cause (air conditioning in a data center).

Interesting.  I haven't noticed any issues with Level3 Centurylink internet & phones over here today.  Luckily.

www.natgenagency.com

But how can it be an outage if I can log in to the site and navigate to where the links are? (honestly don't know).
And I've tried using IE10, IE11, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome and Fire Fox, both on work computer and personal home computer.

I think I'm going to just give up and tell Safeco to do the best they can.

Because especially for carriers, some "portions" of a web site may be hosted by different servers, so you can go to parts of a site, but not others.

Gotcha Jeff. Thank you
