Anyone ever played with Asterisk? Have it in production?
I've followed the project for a few years and am starting to think I should at least try it in a test environment. With a new phone system needed in the next 12-24 months is this something to even consider?
Heck yeah! I have it in production & integrated with our legacy phone system.
Using it to record phone calls on the line side, for voicemail, IVR, and just a couple SIP extensions at the moment.
I used FreePBX so that there was a nice gui interface, but have to have some customization for our legacy integration.
I love everything about it. Plan to eventually ditch the legacy system & be 100% asterisk when the time comes, but it isn't necessary yet.
