If it's a Dell server, and you have an iDrac module in it, you get it with the iDrac card. You can technically run a program that literally accesses the screen via the idrac card.

Otherwise, the big name one I have is Avocent. They're $$$ but work well; the one I have is probably from 2008 and I need to replace it as well.

(Also you may want an IPKVM where you can access it remotely if need be)

It's been years since I've used a KVM switch but the one we used was a Belkin and was rock solid.

Good luck FWA!

Thank you.  Am waiting on the machine to see what ports/cables i need to have before ordering.

just install software like desktop rover and treat it all as one large screen.

i couldn't find 'desktop rover' in a current version/download situation.  Only dating back to 2010.

I have Mini Remote Control from Solarwinds/Dameware, that could work for now, but there is sufficient delay in screen redrawing (I have another machine installed that way), that it is not acceptable.

Anybody have experience/recommendation for a reliable (hi-res) KVM switch?

One that handles two monitors, one mouse, one keyboard.  At least two computers, but 3 or 4 would be even nicer.

Thanks.

If we're out of power, we're down, of course (except for generator possibilities), but we now have cell-service backup for internet if our fiber optic service goes out. It's an extra $20 or so on our AT&T internet bill. Supposed to auto switch, just like a standby generator. That at least helps with the rare interent outage. Of course, that assume cell service is good and still up. We lost power at home after a storm, so internet/wifi was out too, of course. Power outage was big enough that the closest AT&T tower was out too and we had 1 bar of signal. Talk about old-school! No lights, no phones, no internet. We weren't sure what to do! Couldn't even hardly get text messages to go. Apparently that AT&T tower doesn't have a standby generator like the one behind my office does (Verizon). They used to keep a large portable (towable) generator here, but they installed a permanent one a few years ago.

Been fixing too many other things and forgot about this one.  I don't like QB online and especially trying to keep TWO systems in balance.  One on the HS side and the QB online side.  Darn near impossible when accounting is not the ONLY thing I do.  I have to get rid of most of the CSR stuff so I can concentrate on accounting.  EVERYTHING takes more time in QB and I have issues with last month's checkbook reconciliation and payment to a company which will mean at least a half day to repair the "damage".  I've been working on health commissions and it has taken an entire day's time to do what used to take 3 hours for the month's health commissions.  AND I have another issue with HS not recognizing NEW commission after being told how HS uses inception (first written) date to determine a new transaction.  It's not working with some travel policies that were written in April of this year.  Grrrrrrrrr.

Very few saas clouds have the infrastructure to deal with a major ddos attack like this.  that's why services like cloudflare exist and they're pretty friggen awesome.  +1 for AS dealing with this in probably the best possible manner.

I know it's a month later Deb.  But did you figure out your QBO issue?
