Title: Anyone disposing a Dell 1850?
Post by: Mark on October 14, 2011, 09:41:33 AM
Any chance someone is disposing a Dell 1850 with a PCIe riser card in it?

Figured it's a stretch, but since it's an old server I thought I'd give it a whirl.

talked to our hardware guy - we have a pair, but unfortunately they are still set aside as spares.

No worries.  knew it was a long shot.  I did find what I needed for $200 which isn't bad.  Especially considering that Dell wanted $400 for it!!!

Appreciate you checking though!

Thanks Hans!  That is the one that is in there right now, though.  Need to upgrade to PCIe and don't really want to replace the server even though it is old.  Not my usual style, but for this one, I have my reasons.

I once bought a complete used Dell server with lots of drives inexpensively.  Just cannot recall where I got it from.  Sad.  Hard to replace or activate human memory cells.   :(
