Title: Replacing Raid 1 drive
Post by: andrew_ashby on March 31, 2010, 04:36:25 AM
Can I replace a failed drive in a Raid 1 array (Seagate SCSI 15k on Apadtec Raid controller) with a larger hard drive ? I accept that the capacity of the new / larger will be rduced to the size of the remaining original drive.

depending on the controller, you should be able to remove the failed drive from the array, add the fresh drive and rebuild.  With some controllers you are even able to boot your OS and get back to work while the array rebuilds.
