Title: TAM and DEP
Post by: Bloody Jack Kidd on March 05, 2010, 03:05:02 PM
Are people finding they have to either exclude numerous executables or step DEP settings down to 'essential windows programs and services only' in their TAM environments?

This could already be in some TAM docco - dunno.

???

What is DEP?

See, I can ask a dumb question.  I'm not afraid to do so.

Data Execution Prevention - a little M$ tactic designed to make their OS more resilient to malware (not alot of luck btw).

So although it's anti-malware effectiveness is debatable it does sometimes negatively impact legitimate software running on the system.

We've noticed it's a bit random here. Occassionally homebase gets blocked, but not other execs. Generally not an issue for us.
