Title: HP Universal Printer Driver
Post by: Jeff Golas on May 03, 2012, 10:43:11 AM
Does anyone have this working properly? I'm about ready to throw in the towel with HP. Every Windows 7 computer is doing something different. Iron out the bugs...they come back. Fix them again...they come back. Again...they come back.

Either I'm having mental issues or these drivers just suck.

I think I tried using it at first, but found that I didn't have many of the extra tools and just downloaded the proper Vista/Win7 drivers.

Same here..   Tried them but didn't work.   Worked for some but not for W7/64 users so had to add specific drivers for those workstations use.

I found the Univ driver to be poor for most printers and almost unusable for multi-function devices.  It's HP's way of making one tool work for all products, so what if it doesn't work properly, still cheaper in the short run than creating the proper driver.

I'm so fed up with HP I'm ready to switch to another brand.  Not sure what I would go with, been using HP LaserJets for as long as I can remember.
