Problems printing AIG policies - Gibberish characters
« on: July 17, 2019, 04:21:23 pm »
We are having problems printing some AIG policies - Garbage characters.   It is only certain forms and endorsements.

We have tried "Printing as Image", updating the driver, printing to a different type/manufacturer of printer. no dice.

Please see the attached sample of an "Endorsement" that prints Gibberish.

Paging through the document Adobe reader or Acrobat will stop and give the following error:
Cannot extract the embedded fond 'FAAAH+TrebuchetMS-Bold'. Some characters may not display or print correctly. (screen shot of error attached)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Ric

I've seen this.  Unsupported font in the PDF Preview which also prints this way.   Haven't seen it in a while but it was in fact an unsupported font in the PDF app which is likely your PDF preview.  Carrier has to address it.  Could be something as simple as FAAAH+TrebuchetMS+bold.   String says -bold.  Either way it falls on carrier to correct.

Thanx Bob.

We have run it up AIG's flagpole.  Of course the branch manager stated he has checked with several other brokers and we are the only one with the problem. :-\

Was this ever fixed?  I wondered if printing using a PostScript driver might have resolved the printing portion of it.

No Mark,

It was never truly "fixed"

Wound up sending the PDF to my house, I created a new PDF from the one AIG sent me, sent it back to myself at the office an viola! it worked!

A PITA of a workaround but so far we have only had a couple policies with this issue.

Thanx.

There's a checkbox in Adobe settings - something like "substitute missing fonts" - turn that on and see if that helps.

Jeff,

Is the option you are referring to on the creator's end or the users/adobe reader end?

Thanx,

Thanx Jeff, that's what I thought but did not want to AssUMe

We tried to share that information with (the almighty) AIG but believe it fell on deaf eyes. :(

I do appreciate your feedback!
