Getting Files out of TAM Online Environment
« on: July 16, 2019, 02:37:10 pm »
Hey Everyone... so, I'm trying to help someone get some data out of their TOL environment.. and of course, trying to do it without paying A$ a fee.

I'm totally in the dark about the upload center and maybe that's my answer and I just don't know it ...

Basically we have some large .PST fiels to get off the terminal server as well as a load of documents in the my documents folder.

Is there a way to get this done without A$?  It seems as though they have things pretty locked-down.

Do you see any mapping back to a local drive from within the TS environment?

I dont have access right now.  Yesterday when I had a chance to investigate a little, I dont recall seeing that but wasn't looking specifically.  There seemed to be a number of mapped drives - 4 if I recall - H L O and P drives.  I think they were all mapped on the server but I can't swear to it.

So if you're using the standard RDP (Remote desktop connect) app thats built into windows, open it, then click "show options. Go into the "local resources" tab, and click MORE at the bottom. That looks like it will allow you to give access to a local drive from the remote system, but its up to them to support it/not block it.

If you can map a local drive that way, you can use that to send data back to your workstation. Note that depending on how big the files are may be a problem.

I'll see what I can see next time I have access to a station there.  Large files being a problem is what I fear - the main thing they want are some old .pst files that were being used in Outlook in that environment.

Another idea - use a cloud file transfer service (google drive, dropbox, etc) - as long as it's compliant.
