Jeff Golas:
Dear Valued Client:

I want to share some very important and exciting news about Applied Systems and its future. Applied Systems has acquired TechCanary, the leading insurance CRM system built on the Salesforce.com platform. This acquisition expands Applied’s sales and marketing solutions, and demonstrates our company’s commitment to automating both front and back office workflows for every role within an agency, insurer and MGA.

The digital age of insurance is upon us, redefining customer expectations and driving agencies, insurers and MGAs to place greater focus on front office applications to more effectively automate the selling and marketing processes to both prospects and customers. We believe the combination of Applied Systems and TechCanary will provide meaningful benefits to both companies’ customers, partners and other stakeholders in the industry. Applied Systems is committed to investing behind the combined management teams and employee bases to drive continued product innovation and deliver the highest level of impact to our customers and partners. Independent insurance agencies using Applied Epic® will benefit from the option of using a tight integration between the TechCanary CRM solution, as well as, open access to thousands of applications available on the Salesforce AppExchange. This acquisition follows Google’s minority investment in Applied in 2018 and further demonstrates Applied’s commitment to technical innovation to benefit the insurance industry.

Applied remains committed to delivering the highest level of service and support to our customers and partners. Our global scale will continue to benefit our customers and the broader industry with new innovation, greater support, services and technical resources. As always, I invite you to contact me directly if you have any questions or concerns. We understand that many factors go into your choice of a business partner, and we thank you for selecting Applied Systems to power your business.

If you can't beat em, buy em!

We were seriously looking at TechCanary a year ago.

Jeff Golas:
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I had no skin in TechCanary at all, was just happy that someone was doing something "different", and with Applied, that innovation is likely to come to a screeching halt. They'll have the ability to innovate fast, but be hurdled by the "product advisory committee" that needs 2934234239439 votes across 12 years to add a new field.

Joshua Conner:
I agree this is probably a negative competition stirs innovation and if the big guys keep buying the small guys you kill competition.

I thought InStar was by far the best agency management system.   They had true SQL system and data flowed forward and back.  Changed say a commission rate every record was updated as example.  AMS bought them, then shut them down.  Wouldn't surprise me if Applied does same with Tech Canary or maybe they rebrand it and replace DORIS and other old legacy system users.
