View TAM with iPhone
« on: April 05, 2018, 01:05:42 pm »
We have a new agent...he is inquiring about having access to TAM via his iPhone....  We are not terminal server, we are not TAMONLINE....

Can anyone tell me what the process is for this and an idea of the cost...

Thanks.

With the agents I support, I use LogMeIn Pro on the desktops to remote in and fix issues.  The great 'side effect' of this, is that they also get to use it to do remote work if allowed by the agency.  There is a Logmein iOS app that works great.

Thanks, Tom.   I did use GOTOMYPC in the past (however, the owner didn't want to pay the $189 annual cost) any more so I no longer have remote access.  Not sure why he would be willing to spend double that for one agent to "maybe" use that feature.  And I would think an ipad rather than iphone would be more efficient...can't imagine trying to maneuver in TAM on an iphone...

I use splashtop.com  which is like logmein but cheaper.   Again you can do it but it isnt pleasant tam and epic arent made for small screens its ok to do something in an emergency but not to do regular work.

No I certainly wouldn't recommend doing actual work on an iPhone size device, but in a pinch, if you needed to look something up or do something quickly, that's great to be able to do.

Working via an iPad, especially the larger Pro with a good keyboard isn't bad at all.

I don't think he was planning on doing any work this way - just to be able to look up info if needed....but I still think it would be frustrating using phone to access any info in TAM.

You would want CSR24 and the AppliedMobile app in order to do this.  Or, maybe just CSR24 if the producer login is mobile friendly.

The cost of giving one person occasional access to TAM when outside the office is just not justifiable.  With a 7 person office  of which 2 are producers (one is the owner) and the other is a new producer just out of college (and of course is very into everything mobile) the cost is just too much.  Now, if he writes a TON of business and we grow financially.... :)

Long shot, but does your IT Support provider have remote access to your desktops?  I just give my clients the same access I have to their machines - prevents them from having to go buy additional licenses for remote software since they're already paying me.

Tom,

Yes - we do have a program our vendor put on our machines for remoting in.... not sure if he is willing to give access to individuals though...."TeamViewer".....

I tried this ages ago...  random port forward to remote desktop on their workstation.  It "works" but without a mouse and on a tiny little iphone screen, it was a world of hurt.

I'd use OpenVPN instead of the random port today, but if you want to test, it should just be a simple firewall rule change at your gateway.

For RDP on my Android phone, I use Parallel's 2X client.  I don't use the 2X software, but the client supports RDP and provides a mouse.  It's still a tiny screen, but works well.  If the same app is available on iPhone, I'd recommend it.  I'm using the legacy version.

I don't plan on jumping thru any hoops for this issue.....I'll revisit it again after he has been here for a year or better....this may not be his choice of career once he has been at it for awhile....
