I'm in the middle of a huge clean up project and am running into problems deleting OLD apps/policies (from the 90s)when the policy type is GL-N and on anything with a custom dec.  I'm pretty sure many of those old custom decs no longer exist or never did when agencies were purchased.  I need to delete them before I can delete the old customer data.

BTW, I happy to see that Applied Utilities now includes a few new areas in the Purge Utility.  Maybe this year's purge will be cleaner.

Often times, I've run into trouble because old policy screens don't match the policy type of the current billing screen.  That can happen when billing screens are reused.  Try changing the billing screen to what you think the policy type may have been back then and try deleting it again.  Sometimes, they will show up.

my 2 cents, make support do most of it, generally we can look and tell you what the poltype for the custom dec was, so if its something 10 years out of use and you're ok clearing out the data, i've done a few cases over the years where i've just filtered out that type and deleted all.

I have tried changing the policy type for the GL-N to GL-S then back again and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.  Will look to see what old pol types there are for bonds and a few others I've had trouble with.

Thanks, Conan.  I'll call support to clean it out once I've gone through all the unpurged portions of accounts previously purged.  I'm moving the ones I can't delete to Inactive list so they'll be easier to deal with.

Appreciate the suggestions, guys!

Can you look in history and see what policy types may have been saved into history? That might help with figuring out what policy type to use when you change it.

Also, sometimes running a summary of insurance will identify what apps are there.

with the custom decs, I find history is invaluable, but, sometimes (ok a lot of the time) i find its no longer available in the system and long since cleared out (since you can delete a policy type without deleting apps).

The history is gone, part of the utility purge on these accounts.

The summary is a good idea!  Thanks.
