printer Reccomendation

I have been very satisfied with the HP 1200 Series which we all know are no longer available unless refurb'd, eBay, etc.  Need a recommendation for a desktop B&W Laser printer scanner that WILL SCAN BLUE INK.  We have a couple of the HP 1212's or whatever, and they don't scan or copy blue ink.  I have heard of this before, but never experienced it until this model.

So, Ricoh?  Specific model?  Under $200?  I don't think there is a decent HP out there but would love to be proven wrong. We all have print/scan functions at our desk and plan to keep it that way.

I have almost the same one at home.  I think it might be a few years older of a model, but I am happy with it.  I don't know how long they last, though.  With the heavy use we put these through, I'm looking for something to last as long as the HP 1200's which has been 10+ years already.

I guess I was Ok with Brother for home use, but didn't know how it performs in the office.  Laser printers ARE the way to go for home use, though!  toner lasts forever and can often be less than ink when it's all said and done.

ok, so the Ricoh 100SF seems to work perfect except for one thing..

Scanning programs all crash unless the user is an admin.  Any ideas?

I've wasted enough of this person's time setting it up already, so I will try regmon & filemon while she is out maybe, but was wondering if anyone has come across this and has any idea where I need to give permissions?

Hoping that will do it.  Once Group Policy updates, she will be removed from the local admin group anyway.  Should find out soon I guess.

I know, and I completely feel like it!  I know those were both replaces with something else, but I still have the old ones and don't feel like wasting time to replace them.  They usually do what I need.

This didn't do it.  Once the user is removed from local admin, clicking the scan button crashes the application.  Any ideas??

You've probably already done this, but sometimes those who know leap frog the simple stuff like checking the System or Application event viewer logs.  Also, if you haven't already, use process monitor, regmon or filemon to see what they have to say.  I'm sure that they'll have something to say.  Or, I'm sure that there's a forum somewhere that could be searched.

A couple of other things to try....  Running it as an administrator or using another user profile or running it in XP compatibility mode.

Making the account a local admin fixes the problem but is not a solution.

I've given the user full control of the the registry locations and filemon tells me nothing.

It's not related to MSPSCAN.exe though.  It crashes regardless of what program is used to scan -- unless the user is an admin.

Any anomalies in device manager?  How about trying a different version of the driver?  I've had issues before when I forgot to use the "run as administrator" when installing.  I doubt that's it, but I thought I'd mention it.

Yeah.  Installed as administrator.  It's definitely got to be a permissions issue.  Maybe permissions on a temp folder.  I just have to find it.
