ASCnet has sent out it's call for Proposal Email.  Last year many of the classes were good and ASCnet's official message was that they were focusing on "core" topics.  This decision meant that I.T. classes were minimized and watered down.  Jim V.s popular favorite "Doing I.T." was moved to Monday so attendees had to pay an additional $99 plus the cost of an additional night of hotel.   ASCnet and Applied also stocked classes it did have with instructors from the Applied Data Center. Engineers who just read through a script, didn't offer any interaction, and had no experience in a SMB or med sized agency I.T. environment.  Other I.T. classes were sales pitches for Applied products which turned into focus groups sessions for what Applieds produces didn't offer.

I.T. is far too important to be treated this way.  With a lot of talk about "The Cloud" Applied and ASCnet may assume that I.T. will just become the boiler tenders of yesterday.  This will not be the case!

ASCnet and Applieds decision to minimize I.T. classes comes at the same time that change is accelerating in I.T.   When agencies should be consulting with their I.T. staff more and when I.T. people need more input from their users groups.

Please use this opertunity to tell ASCnet and Applied that last years mistake can not be repeated.  If ASCnet fails to be relevant to I.T. people, we will be forced to take our community elsewhere.

Make this your public notice to ASCnet and Applied that you are unhappy.

Please post to show your voice, state your concern, and what you would do to fix it.  If you remember specific classes and content please state that too.

If you did not receive a Call for Proposal email from ASCnet I would request one.

Bah, control.  We work for CHAOS.

ASCnet probably works for the good of the Applied System's software users.  Anything that would advance the usefulness to the user would certainly be supported.  We would accept it with open arms, hug it and love it etc.

I actually just emailed them directly.  The submission form really isn't formatted to handle the input of asking for I.T. classes to be better.
